Festival as a miracle

The world of Emir Kusturica. The village of Drvengrad, built by the legendary filmmaker himself, hosted the ‘RT.Doc: Time of Our Heroes’ festival. This scenic site provided the perfect setting to discuss what matters most to Serbia and Russia – two nations bound by shared values. One of the strongest is their shared resolve to defend their homelands.

Cultural exchange between Serbia and Russia has never ceased. But who is trying to suppress or 'cancel' Russian culture today… and why? Why has the West turned against Belgrade because of its ties to Moscow?

Drvengrad is Kusturica's tribute to his homeland and the embodiment of nostalgia for the peaceful times before the Balkan wars. It's no coincidence that this was the venue for the premiere of 'Bosnian Rift: Republika Srpska’s View'. This documentary reflects on the conflicts of the 1990s and questions the fairness and durability of the peace forged in the Dayton Agreement.

The RT.Doc International Documentary Film Festival: Time of Our Heroes brings together documentary filmmakers, war reporters, artists, poets, musicians, and public figures. The program is united by a central message: ‘This is the time of heroes. This is our time’. Each film – and every frame – tells a powerful and profoundly human story.

Watch “Festival as a miracle” on RTD website and on RT’s live feed. The time of the broadcast is available on RT’s schedule page.
