Meet me in Moscow

As Moscow prepared to mark the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II on May 9, Red Square became more than a backdrop. Amid shifting geopolitics and competing narratives, what does solemn remembrance say about where we are, and where we are headed?

In this documentary, Xinhua's Miao Xiaojuan speaks with local scholars and journalists from RT, Rossiiskaya Gazeta, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, and Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. As they discuss memory, loss, and hope, their voices offer a glimpse into a shared past and a future still being shaped for Russia, China, and the world.

Miao also visited the Victory Museum in Moscow, accompanied by RT producer Dmitry Leontyev. The exhibitions dedicated to the heroic feat of the Soviet Union’s Red Army there explain the events of WWII and commemorate the sacrifices of the fallen. ‘The Chinese soldiers who fought in the Soviet army and the Soviet soldiers who fought for the Chinese and risked their lives… I don't think there is anything which brings countries closer than that,’ says Dmitry, highlighting the depth and importance of Russia-China relations.

Watch “Meet me in Moscow” on RTD website and on RT’s live feed. The time of the broadcast is available on RT’s schedule page.
