Evgeny Norin is a Russian public intellectual, historian, and one of the country’s most prominent popularizers of military history.
Born in 1986 in Perm, in the Ural region, he graduated with a law degree and spent five years in legal practice before turning to journalism in 2014. Since then, his work has appeared in a wide range of media outlets, including the Russian edition of Popular Mechanics, news agencies, and analytical publications.
Norin specializes in twentieth-century conflicts and the military history of Russia. He is the author of several nonfiction books, most notably The Chechen War, a two-volume account of the conflict. His reporting has included field correspondence from the Donbass region, and his writing focuses on bringing historical insight to the understanding of post-Soviet armed conflicts.
