Alexander Bobrov

Alexander Bobrov is a Russian foreign policy expert, historian, and commentator. He holds a PhD in History from MGIMO University, where he defended a dissertation on the evolution of Russia’s foreign policy concepts and diplomatic practice from 1991 to 2020. A graduate of MGIMO’s School of International Relations, Bobrov is fluent in English, French, and German, and has working knowledge of Arabic. Since 2025, he has led the diplomatic research program at the Institute for Strategic Research and Forecasts at RUDN University. Author of the book “The Grand Strategy of Russia.”

From 2022 to 2024, he served as acting director of the School of International Relations and Governance at MGIMO, overseeing Russia’s only fully English-language faculty for international students and bilingual Russians. He previously taught diplomacy at MGIMO, authored textbooks and monographs on Russian foreign policy and world order, and provided policy advising on political risk for major Russian multinational companies. 

Bobrov is also a media commentator for international outlets including RT English, RT France, Xinhua, and Tehran News, and a frequent guest on Russian channels such as Vesti-24 and RBC. He is the creator of the Sputnik Radio show Persons Grata. Follow his Telegram channel Diplomacy and the World.”
