Top militants killed in Dagestan

Four militants, including their top leader ‘Amir of Dagestan’, have been killed in the city of Khasavyurt in the Russian Republic of Dagestan.

Just two hours ahead of the New Year, at 22:00 Moscow time, Umalat Magomedov (Al-Bara) and three militants accompanying him were shot dead during a fire-fight that followed their being identified at a road block.

Police made an attempt to stop their car and, once those inside opened fire at police officers with machine-guns, they were killed by return fire.

There is no information about wounded law enforcement officers.
